A Touch of Class cabaret
The nights draw in
August Bank Holiday
Seventeen people and three dogs warm and dry days, if not a sunny August Bank Holiday weekend at Wootton Bassett.
Eight vans pitched on a reasonably dry field in this rural setting with its fine views to the Downs as harvest was gathered in around and about.
Marlborough, Swindon, Devizes are in easy reach, as well as Wootton Bassett itself.
Thanks to Pete and Joy, and Mac and Mon we had gazeboes to shelter under for our evening meal, even if Joy and Peter took theirs down at 2am in a storm that blew up overnight!
Extended Rally
Limmer Pond Rally
Here are some of the
permanent residents of Limmer Pond.
Fortunately we did not have to act like ducks this week-end, as we were blessed with some good weather. Seven caravans enjoyed the views of the South Downs, and the fine coastal area to explore. I am pleased to report that after the disasters of the last rally; flooded awnings, bent flag poles, caravans running away and leaking caravans, this rally passed without incident. Unfortunately though our Rally Officers Tina & Pierre had quite a trial with their electrics before they could raise the flag over the rally field.
On the Saturday evening we were joined by Ron & Peggy, Chris & Steve, Mark & Karen with Luke and Lewis, to help celebrate Linda’s Birthday.
The next rally is at Angmering, but unfortunately(?!!) Monica & I will be on the Isle of Mull, but we look forward to seeing you some time over the Holiday Rally in Dorset.

Wet one!
It was Ron’s birthday on Saturday 24 May and fortuitously 25 club members in 11 vans were present for the first rally at the Frome Cheese Show West Woodlands showground site to help Ron empty the wine cartons.
However, Wallace and Gromit were not there. Probably because the next Cheese Show isn’t until 13 September. Besides which, Nantwich is the largest cheese show and Frome the second, so Wallace, being partial to Wensleydale, may stay up north.
Not to worry, Cyril the Squirrel and his Terriers will have you in fits of laughter if you do go to the show and in fact I was infomed that you can camp on the extensive show ground during the show.
By popular demand we will be returning to West Woodlands in 2010, but be warned don’t pitch by the hedge. The rally officers did and following two nights of torrential rain their awning was flooded so the coffee morning had to be cancelled. In spite of the rain the rest of the site remained surprisingly dry, with firm lanes to allow drive on.
Tight fit
“That was lucky,” barked Baron. He was referring to the fact that we had to fit on the hard standing at the White House Farm, Uckfield rally over the May Day Holiday weekend.
It’s hard to remember now, but the week before the rally had been very wet and the field was saturated, but luckily the hard standing has been extended and we could fit all ten vans on.
That left room for the rally officer to errect a large gazebo which we could all sit under for our Saturday night barbecue meal, which was as well as there were a few spots of rain, but the days the secretary was present were fine and sometimes sunny
